FOREVER REBLOG!!
James didn’t die for Lily. Lord Voldemort decided to kill the entire Potter family. It wasn’t like he sacrificed himself for her because she died a minute later.
Snape vowed to protect Harry for Lily, even though Harry was James’ spawn. That’s pretty noble considering the circumstances. So, his death was related to his undying love for Lily.
Fuck James Potter.
What was that you said? James didn’t die for Lily? Um, yes he DID. I believe his exact instructions were something along the lines of “Lily, take the baby and GO!”
The reason Lily and Harry lived even that extra minute was because James was doing everything within his power to protect his family, even barring the door to them with his own body. James was a just, brave and LOYAL man, who loved his family more than anything. They had spent a year in hiding together, trying to preserve the future of their son and their marriage.
Lily loved him, and he loved Lily right back. Snape was a brave and noble wizard, but, in his own way, he was awful. He could never forgive Harry for being James’ spawn, as you say, and it tortured him that he had those haunting, horrible, BEAUTIFUL green eyes. He loved Lily, yes, but did he love Harry? No. Harry was a favor lent to a longtime friend, a promise he had to keep. When he died, he wasn’t thinking of Harry and what a brave man he had grown to be, he was thinking of Lily, and what he could have had. He says right at the end that he didn’t give Buckbeak’s crap about Harry, his thoughts had always been on Lily. Always.
When James died, you can bet your grandmother’s wheelchair that he was thinking of his wife and son. Voldemort did a number on that house at Godric’s Hollow, and I bet some of that was in his duel with James.
So go on, feel free to condemn James and put him down, but he was a brave man, and a worthy man in his own right; feel free to say “Fuck James Potter,” because you know who did?
Lily Evans. Yeah, that’s right, I went there.
